The Dish Examination
Blueberry Pancakes
The blueberry pancakes arrived broad, golden, and dusted with powdered sugar. The lemon blueberry sauce was the distinction. It was not the heavy, corn-syrup sweetness that plagues most hotel pancake programs. The lemon cut through the fruit with restraint, lifting the blueberries instead of drowning them. Paired with a side of maple syrup for those who prefer tradition, the pancakes delivered on both fronts. Famous Chef Thomas found these to be genuinely good.
Scrambled Eggs
The scrambled eggs were decent. Not remarkable, not offensive. Cooked through without being dry, seasoned adequately. Hotel eggs walk a narrow line between caution and carelessness. These stayed on the right side of that line.
Turkey Sausage & Home Fries
The turkey sausage patty was seasoned modestly and cooked with a proper sear. It did not pretend to be pork, and that honesty was appreciated. The home fries were cubed and golden, with a light crust and soft center. No grease. No apology needed.
Sourdough Bread
The sourdough toast was a welcome addition. Properly toasted with a genuine tang. Served with butter chips on the side. The bread had structure and did not collapse under its own weight. In a hotel breakfast context, that is a small victory worth noting.
Hot Tea
The hot tea arrived in a proper cup with a teabag steeping. Simple. Adequate. It did not attempt to be more than it was, and Famous Chef Thomas respects that restraint.
The Ruling
A hotel breakfast that respects the plate. The blueberry pancakes with lemon blueberry sauce earned their place. The rest of the spread held its ground. When a Marriott kitchen treats breakfast as a meal rather than an obligation, the morning is better for it.
